This month in the Longarm League, we published a business spotlight call featuring Enjoli Strait of Doodle Quilting Studio. I sat down with her to talk about growing her longarm business over the last several years to now be running five longarm machines with a small group of employees, helping others learn how to make the most of their Bernina longarms, and traveling to work with Bernina at a handful of shows each year.
While League members have full access to the recording of the call, we asked Enjoli to share a little more about herself and her business with our blog readers.
Without further ado, let's meet Enjoli...
Located: Anchorage, Alaska
In business: I started at the end of 2016 so 8 years!
Machine and software: We run Berninas with Qmatic

Best way for someone to contact you for quilting? We can be contacted through our website via contact form or by email at [email protected] or by phone at 907-764-4086.
Tell us a little about your business and the services you provide at Doodle Quilting Studio.
Doodle operates out of a studio space next door to a local quilt shop. We offer edge-to-edge quilting services, batting, binding services along with a few more specific services such as custom quilt labels, pre-made bias binding and a selection of wide backs. We offer custom quilting to a small select group of customers that Enjoli quilted for in the beginning stages of the business.
Do you have any advice for someone just starting out with their business?
Don't be afraid to tell someone no if you cannot provide what they are asking for. It is tempting to say yes and then figure it out but it makes things less fun and more stressful than it needs to be! You'll get more customers later by offering the services you are comfortable with and confident in.
What is your favorite notion for longarm quilting?
Binding Eaze (from Quilted Heartz) for making binding. It speeds up the pressing in half process!
What's your favorite part of making a quilt?
I do enjoy the piecing part, but my favorite is once I've finished the top and get to decide on what quilting design I'm going to put on it! Current faves are anything from SewShabby Quilting! (If you missed it, we recently did a business spotlight interview with Melissa Kelley of Sew Shabby Quilting. You can read more about the interview and Melissa in our blog post.)
What other hobbies do you enjoy aside from quilting?
Reading (my TBR list is long!)
Any book, podcast, TV show or other media you've been loving lately or would recommend?
I just finished watching "Shrinking" and it was so good!
